We absolutely love a good Mediterranean-themed dinner. An assortment of fresh, flavorful and healthy dishes never fails as a crowd-pleasing meal. Dip, of course, is an absolute must for a Mediterranean feast. Usually, we can't make up our minds, so we end up making a few more dips than is likely necessary. Last night, however, we decided to combine two of our favorites into one, and this Baba Ghanoush Hummus definitely goes down as one of the better ideas we've ever had! 

We know, we know-- another grain salad recipe. But one thing that is definitely true about this blog is that we cook and post about what we actually eat (and we eat a lot of grain salads!) And for good reason, too--grain salads make for a perfect filling, healthy, and flavorful vegetarian meal. 

We are usually pretty low-key gals, but sometimes there is nothing better than getting dressed up and having a glamorous night with fun, festive drinks. Now that awards season is upon us, we've found that it's the perfect excuse to have a little get together and make a fun cocktail! Enter: the Pomegranate Ginger Red Carpet Cocktail. 

Coffee cake has always been something that we like the idea of more than the real thing. Somehow (despite copious amounts of sour cream and sugar) they end up too dry and too sweet. That's why, more often than not, we turn to muffins or scones when we want a morning pastry. That changed, however, when we tried this big crumb blueberry coffee cake. 

There are some aspects of life in New York that nobody warns you about. One of those is the, shall we say, interesting experience that is shopping at Trader Joe's. Going on a TJ's run is not simply a matter of making a grocery list and doing your best to stick to it (because let's face it, that cookie butter will end up in your cart whether it was on there or not). It's an event that requires mental sharpness, endless patience, and a trusty sidekick or two (this Buzzfeed article lays it out pretty well). But I digress. My point is that whenever we can re-create one of our favorite TJ's purchases at home, that's one less reason to make the trip to the 7th circle of hell that is Trader Joe's in Manhattan.

It still very much feels like fall here in New York. Despite visits to the Rockefeller Christmas tree, walks down 5th avenue to see the window displays, and trips to various holiday markets, the warm weather and the crisp air still insist that it is autumn. I think maybe that's why I'm still loving pumpkin everything right now—including these delightful little almond-topped pumpkin muffins.
